Storage heater query
Hi all
I am just about to move and seeing as it is now quite nippy out I've been trying to figure out the storage heater. I understand the input and output, and will play around with that to find the right setting. BUT there are two switches at the wall, and something I read suggested that one of these is peak and one is off peak? Is this correct? And if so, can anyone tell me how I figure out which is which as I dont want to end up paying out a small fortune for accidental peak useage. I've never used storage heaters before so feeling a bit lost!
Thanks in advance for any help

- no idea, I'll buy that for water heating but not for storage heating
- what are these two switches
- are you E7 or E10
- if you are stuck upload a pic of the switch here
Don't worry about storage heating anyone would be ' boggled ' at the thought when they first see it. There's only one [ two part ] trick (1) keep the input as high as you like it and keep the output [ damper - the metal flap on the top ] to zero and (2) always have a~n~other fire in the living room for those extra unplanned / sudden cold periods.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I try to be an even-handed poster and accept that you at times may not agree with these opinions or how I choose to express them, this is not my problem. I've already given the correct answer. One switch has a fuse under it - the peak one - and one doesn't - the off peak one.:)0 -

Yeh I know - and I've also read your previous answers to other questions too, you may be correct my friend, and psychic, because you already know [ the O/P is on E10 ] what type of of system he has before LilBec even tells us -Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. It doesn't matter whether he has E10 or E's and Whizz, he has two switches - one with a fuse and one without.:A0 -
I don't see a mention of the fuse in the original post (OP).:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Hi,
well, I used to be on E7, and only had one switch on wall next to the heater, it came on at night on the 'cheap rate'.
Moved house and now on Comfort Plus, again one switch on wall beside heater, controlled by the time switch, so no manual boost.0 -
C'mon Mr Man Full of Love,
- no need to get all polemic, even if other peoples opinions turn out to be wrong they have a right to express them !
- you too have an opinion, and the right to post it here, don't get all doctrinal and try to stop other views being expressed.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Aside from not knowing, or caring, what polemic means I didn't give an opinion. I answered a straightforward question. IE: How do you tell which switch is peak or off peak.
Sorry if you find that polemic, but that's your problem not mine.:)
Plus I wouldn't even dream of stopping anyone passing an opinion - let's face it, it would be a tad difficult short of hunting them down and shooting them.:)0
