What can you do if the bailiff cannot find the person who owes you?

I was awarded a full refund of £500 plus costs which now total £185 against the sole trader who ran this fashion retail website:
http://www.ninaandlola.com/

The website now says the owner is taking a break for a couple of seasons.

The bailiff in London returned a 'could not find' when I had a warrant issued for £685.
The woman who runs the site is a German national and might have gone abroad, so I do not know how to enforce this CCJ that I won and get my money back and costs.

If anyone knows if there is any practical way to proceed from here I would appreciate advice.

Without an address in the UK it is going to be difficult.

46 Elizabeth Ave seems to be a block of apartments, so it would be hard for the bailiffs to pinpoint which apartment in the block the person lives in

You could always try to trace her through Birkbeck University where she says she is studying on her Facebook page.

Also, as a sole trader she will be self employed limiting your options further.
Actually, that is not bad news. If it were a company, they could liquidate and restart. Self employed people don't have that option.

    The company is dissolved http://www.levelbusiness.com/doc/person/uk/11816364

And according to that, she wasn't a sole trader

    Thank you for the replies.

In court she said the company was just herself.

Someone found her on twitter (same photo as on her ninaandlola website) showing that she is still in London.

I gave the bailiff the address 46 Elizabeth Avenue, but then I noticed that her correspondence said 46D so I phoned and emailed the court with the extra information as well as her email and phone number but I don't know if the right person received it as it was not acknowledged.

The bailiff didn't respond to any of my messages in any form and was never available by phone when I was advised he would be. His report said she was not known at the property, but then if he didn't get the message about 46D he might have been knocking at the wrong door.

Pimento - I looked on Facebook and there are lots of Nina Mays, but I'm no good at finding people on FB. I'd welcome a link.

it probably was but as a limited company. Even companies house is showing her as dissolved as of last year http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/d391e7f0103543a3bf70c2accf37172d/compdetails

unless she started up again as a sole trader seeing as she didn't file any returns since 2008 and got a compulsory liquidation http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/d391e7f0103543a3bf70c2accf37172d/insolvency
  • Thank you. My unfortunate purchase was made in 2010 so I guess she restarted after the first insolvency. If only I'd known!
The court judgement I have is against her in person.
