Warranty on an item

Good evening all, My name is Dan.

A friend of mine came around today to ask me to repair his laptop. Power supply got hot and eventually burnt out.

I can repair or replace the power supply/charger, but it's only 6 months old. He bought it through the clever money making scheme that is "Brighthouse", yet has failed to keep up the repayments. They are pursuing him for the money.

Does Brighthouse have to honour his warranty, or could he go back to "Acer" and have them rectify this problem.

To make things more confusing, the laptop was 6 months old when he purchased it. It was from another customer who had upgraded for a touch screen option. He was not told his warranty would be the general 6 months, 3 monthys or sold as seen issue.

I am a little lost as to where i can go on this.

You input would be much appreciated.

King regards all, and thanks for reading.

Dan, Northants, UK.
