Flight cancellation

I'm having a problem with a holiday I booked and wanted some advice.

As part of a trip I'm doing I booked a flight between Krakow and Kiev roughly 6 months ago through Opodo. Early today they rung me to tell me the flight has been cancelled less than 2 weeks until the trip. They have offered to transfer me to another flight leaving from Warsaw (which for those of you who don't know is 150 miles away) or a refund. Clearly I'm not too happy with either of these options considering the extra cost of booking such a late flight.

Therefore can I request they transfer me to another flight from Krakow (which exists on their site but it's with a different airline) or alternatively provide us with a seperate flight to Krakow, which also exists on their site? I do have travel insurance but haven't checked if this is covered yet.

Ive also got another flight booked through Opodo to fly me from Kiev to london. If the worst does happen and I can't travel to Kiev can I get them to refund this flight as well as it will be useless?

Thanks for your help.

When was the cancelled flight, within two weeks or longer?

Was the London flight part of the same booking?

It's 2 weeks 2 days today for the flight in question and few days less before I head to my first destination. Because I've got 3 one way flights they're all seperate although the important two are booked though Opodo. To be honest that's the last option for me because it'll cost a fortune to book a return journey from Poland now.

Train travel from Krakow to WArsaw is quite cheap. Not ideal but if you have travel insurance does it cover incidental costs with cancellations?

I haven't been home yet so I haven't had the chance to check my insurance details but it's not the cheapest available so I'm hoping it does cover it. I shall double check.
