Income Support

Hi,

I wondering if you could help as I am new to this and I hope I have come to the right place.

I am on maternity leave and do not go back until March 2012 but my maternity pay stops at the end of November. Will I be able to claim Income Support until I go back to work?

Do you have a partner? How many weeks maternity pay are you receiving?

Could you go back to work when your maternity pay finishes instead

and we will never, ever return.
  • My partner doesnt work we get housing benefit and council tax benefit. I receive the standard maternity pay nothing extra and I get it for 39 weeks but finishes at the end of November.

In that case your partner will need to claim JSA ... I assume he is looking for work?
  • Yes he is looking for work he got made redundant a couple of months ago. So he will get JSA not Income Support then

Yes, that is correct. He may even be eligible to claim whilst you are still receiving SMP.

You wont get income support as you dont qualify for it. Your not a single parent or sick or disabled
