I am looking at about £300-400. I don't use it for anything clever. Just browsing, email, office docs.
Last one I had was about 1/2 - 3/4 less than the spec of this one so I thought it would be a lot betterAlways get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0 -
If i had a choice i wouldnt buy another acer for a laptop but id go for a samsung or maybe a toshiba. Didnt really have problems with the acer, well the DC jack pin broke twice due to being knocked onto the floor with the charger plugged in and hitting the floor first but thats not the reason why I wouldnt buy another, looks wise its not all that appealing compared to other laptops ive seen which look much nicer.0

For that he does not need an i3 second generation processor.
A £250 laptop would cover his needs.
But if he is happy to spend the full £350, there are worse choices than the Samsung.0 -
Exactly, I posted the Samsung link so he could see that his budget would buy more than an older Pentium based laptop and he shouldn't be expecting to pay anywhere near that price for the one he was looking at. However the samsung is value for money should the OP's needs change over the next couple of years, as so many users do.For that he does not need an i3 second generation processor.
