This is what the paypal payment email said (what buyer thinks their address is):

    10 PETRIE PLACE
    LONDONDERRY
    BT49OGB
    Ireland

This is what Royal Mail website said:

    10 Petrie Place
    Limavady
    BT49 0GB
    United Kingdom

This is what I printed on postage label:

    10 Petrie Place
    Limavady
    Londonderry
    BT49 0GB
    United Kingdom

Do you think that will get there ok?
  • It should get there fine. If it's lost or delayed (as occasionally happens even to well packed and correctly addressed mail) it won't be your fault.
I'd omit the UK part at the bottom, since it's quite unnecessary when posting from within the UK.

I hope you're right! I will get a certificate of posting stamped anyway.

I managed to establish that he lived in the United Kingdom not Ireland but then there was confusion about wether he lived in Limavady or Londonderry.

The buyer should really know where he lives (Paypal email said Londonderry not Limavady) although he was incorrect about his own address being in Ireland so he obviously hasn't a clue where he lives! So I decided that Royal Mail were more likely to be correct about it being in Limavady, but I put both just to be safe.

No wonder his address was unconfirmed - as what he put doesn't really exist!

Well, if Northern Ireland was actually an OPTION to select in Paypal/eBay, then it wouldn't be a problem. But 99% of the time it isn't an option to select it, so you have to choose either Ireland or UK, and frankly I don't like choosing either.

As far as postage goes, it's UK rates. As far as putting down Ireland/UK goes, it could be as simple as not actually having the Northern Ireland option to choose and having to pick one or the other. So lets just leave the speculation out of it before someone gets offended... ;)

Not talking about postage options, pointing out that the buyer when they signed up to ebay made a concious decision to list their address as Ireland, not northern ireland - thats not speculation - thats what the buyer has done. That has implications in Ebay, for example, i had a guy from belfast email me saying he appeared to be barred from bidding on my auctions - even thought he just lived a few miles from me, but it turned out it was because he had listed himself as being in ireland and ebay thus had picked it up as an international transaction, which i don't accept (- otherwise you get asked to ship things to nigeria!)

The postage is confusing though at the best of times - for example, lots of mainland sellers - particularly those who use couriers - list a UK postage price, so if someone from northern ireland buys, they may find that their courier will want more, which is fair enough as there is a flight involved rather than just a journey in a lorry.

However i've even heard of the post office try to charge international rates to post even a letter to northern ireland, which given handling post is their trade, they would ensure their staff at least know whats part of the uk and whats not!

that reminds me, aswell as his address being unconfirmed he only has 26 feedback, 3 of which are negatives, and he has left quite a few.

1 - listed the item misleadingly, reluctantly agreed to refund but not postage costs
2 - If you have a problem, why you do not take up a contact with us?
    3 - NON PAYER

and has also left 3 negatives

1 - watch this con man as he takes money but does not send goods
2 - be carefull first and last time to buy of this seller (reply from seller - 9 days after receiving item to say he wants a refund as 1 button is is stiff)
3 - NOT A VERY HELP PERSON TO DEAL WITH (reply from seller - If you have a problem, why you do not take up a contact with us?)

    and 2 neutrals

1 - i think there was more than a nail jamed as this gun is passing air
2 - very efficent service (reply from seller - why is this a neatral comment shouldnt it be positive????)

I just hope I don't get any trouble from him as he seems like a bit of a pain in the !!!!

I actually thought I had put ship UK only on the auction and blocked international buyers from bidding. If I had the buyer would not have been able to buy it as he put is own address as Ireland when it was in fact UK and he would have been able to purchase.

So yes he could be causing himself a few problems.

He also sells items and i quite often search UK only, and I'm sure other people do to so his item would not show up under UK only searches.

If eBay/Paypal would just list Northern Ireland as an option, it'd be a whole lot simpler. *sigh*
