VW car injector problem.

Hi
Abit of advise required please. I owned a VW passat reg 2006 and it kept on braking down in about 2009. The problem turned out to be an injector. I had to spend aboy £800 from VW garage. After afew weeks, it broke down in the same fashion. Then i took it to a non vw garage and it was another one of the 6 injectors again. Recentely VW have flagged this up as an intrisic vehicle fault and have said that they will fix this problem free of charge if this happens to any vehicle. I have since got rid of the vehicle.
My question is can i claim back the £800 i paid to VW to fix in the first instance? I have the recipt from the job carried out. I asked someone and they seemed to think that since i dont own the vehicle anymore, i dont have the rights to a refund. Can anybody please help?
Thanks
