Cost to move pipework

Hi all, I've recently got my foot on the first rung of the property ladder by buying a slightly dilapidated house. woo!

I plan to do some of the work myself but there is one thing that I just don't have a clue about. There are 4 pipes against the wall on the dining room going into the kitchen. If it's not too costly I'd like these putting under the floor boards (which we're ripping up anyway). I'd really appreciate any thoughts.

Without knowing where they come from and what they do, how can we help?

    Are they

    Central Heating?
    Gas?
    Mains Water?
    Tank-fed water?

If you can't figure out the answers to the above, you probably shouldn't be moving them.....

They may go 'into the kitchen' but where do they come from? Upstairs? Outside?

If you already have the floor boards up then it will be a fairly easy diy job

    Have a look here http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/plumbing/plumbing.php

Especially if you use plastic pipes and fittings

plastic pipes such as john geust speedfit is a brilliant product,
but are not to be used " on gas " under any circumstances,
get a gas safe registered fitter, for gas, he will pressure test
at the meter before and after the work, karl...
  • Thanks for all of your help so far, I cant believe how many replies I've had!

I'm going to the house tonight so I'll try and investigate more
  • If you plan on doing much of the work yourself...then you'd better start learning how to do plumbing!

lubrication the markers on the side of the pipe gaurantee you have
pushed the pushfit pipe in far enough karl.........
