Can anyone tell me if there is a good car hire price comparison site. Travelsupermarket's cheaper was almost £40 more expensive than the Hertz link which was on Ryanair's website!

cannot tell you how to get the cheapest but the price quoted is almost never the price you end up paying.

When we go to Spain, etc. we use this company https://www.carjet.co.uk and we have NEVER had problems nor to pay anything more than what it says on your voucher except of course for the gas...They also give you 10% off + don't have to pay til you get there!
Sometimes to double check we use Kelkoo https://www.kelkoo.co.uk/
Also, perhaps try http://www.airline-network.co.uk/carhire/ Sometimes they have offers
