Hi
I'm going to amsterdam with my parents and i need to book an apt for 6 people. I've come across these 2 apts. 1 is by the station and the other past dam square.
Could you help me make up my mind please
I'm now looking at these two apts which if it was your choice would you go for.
I like the location of this one. Near the Leidseplein

but i also like this one near the station

Looking at my map the first one is about 800-1000 metres from the Leidseplien between Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht. You are nearer Frederiksplien and want a No.4 tram.
The second and my choice is on a pedestrian street between Damrak and Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal and very central. There is a nice patisserie on this street. Close to Dam Square, the Paleis, Nieuwe Kerk, and Magna Plaza.
Are you wanting tranquility or ease of access? How mobile are your parents?
As an aside I'm looking at staying at the Barbizon Palace which you mentioned you have stayed in. I have only been in The Eden, Dikker & Thijs, and the Crowne Plaza which while a bit dated suits us.
Whats your views on the Barbizon?
Again I'm out there in Feb. if you want me to look at anything for you. HTHI have a cunning plan!

i loved this hotel
my parents are quite mobile for there age.
But with the 1st being near the Leidseplien i thought that was more suited, as this is where we will be going at night.
But if i'm correct the 2nd one is just to the right of central station.
Am i correct0 -
Straight over from central station and behind the Crowne Plaza which is 5 Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal.
Turn left down the side of the Crowne Plaza then right into Nieuwendijk.
It's far enough from the station to be quiet but still walking distance.
The other one is near the main Amstel so you may be able to arrive by boat.
For the Leidseplien walk up to Frederiksplien and take a westbound 6,7,or 10 tram.
It's a shame they dropped the 20 which was a circular route and you could do a mini tour on it.
Will read your review tonight. ThanksI have a cunning plan!
