Was the ceiling repaired properly? Could it be rot?

I have a horrible smell in my living room, its kind of like a urine smell. I have no pets and my son hasnt had any accidents or anything so it is not actually urine that is just how it smells. I had a leak and the ceiling collapsed a few months back, i dont no if this is connected to the smell or not as the smell started around 2months after this.

Coud it be damp/mould? any ideas on how i can get rid of the smell?

Just to add i have laminate flooring not carpet.

Is your ceiling artexed? I've noticed nasty smells associated with Artex when it is damp

if the ceiling repair has been done correctly then the problem could be that water might have leaked under the laminate flooring & be reacting with your underlay causing the smell

Seen the cat recently not gone mouldy under the sofa?:p

Have you got an open chimney, could anything have fallen into the top of fireplace.

Sounds like it is an after effect of the water damage somewhere. Probably need to systematically shuffle things around until you can isolate where it is coming from.

You don't have an old pair of trainers lurking somwhere?

Some of them stink of a urine like smell when old.

PS. I think it probably isn't that.

I have an odd smell in my hall for months, couldnt figure out where it was coming from, smelt like cat pee, turns out it was a small gas leak.

    Good call.

My sons leather golf shoes used to do the same if left, in the car, when they were wet. Just like cat wee.

    Left any where in fact.
