re-touchpad

Hi, Yesterday, I let Lexmark take remote control of my PC to try and fix my printer, which has never worked right since I took PC back to factory settings. She was on it ages, my eyes were a blur at what she was doing.Alas, it still isn,t right, she said it was Avast, which she said she remedied.
Since then , I have had trouble with Secunia, which I have resolved by re-installing,but now I cannot scroll using touchpad, have to use up/down buttons.Could anyone advise me how to get fast scroll back please.PC is Acer 5920 laptop, vista 32bit premium.I have tried searching Synaptics, mouse comes up, but it only gives advice on wheel vertical/horizontal.I think I made a wrong choice letting her have remote control, I am finding faults as I use the PC. Goodness knows what else she has changed;;;The synaptic icon is no longer on tray.

  • Try This.

Open control panel then click Device Manager Click mouse and other pointing devices. select Synaptics PS/2 port touch pad Click driver then click roll back driver. Once done that Click Update Driver. Should then get told to restart computer.

This worked for me when I had problems. Good Luck

Open Control Panel Select mouse. Select device setting Double click
synaptic touchpad Click Scrolling Double Click One Finger Scrolling. Then select what you want.

Hi, Devon scouse, tried what you suggested, but still the same.
Couldn,t roll back, it was greyed out. Tried updating drivers, said the latest ones are installed. No one finger option that I can see.Actually cannot see scrolling in device manager. When I click on mouse or Synaptics in control panel, I get error dialogue box come up. It says,"unable to connect to SPDDriver, do I want to uninstal?" click no.Then Mouse Properties box appears. The only scrolling options available seem to be for mouse wheel only, it says touch pad working .ok.It could be coincidence, but it happened directly after Lexmark altered whatever by remote.
  • Sorry last attempt didn't work this may help.
    Open Control Panel
    Select mouse
    Select Hardware
    Select Properties
    Click change settings
    Click Driver
Click Roll Back Driver Once done Up Date driver and Re-start computer.

    If that works
Go to Control Panel, Select Mouse then Device settings
Should then say Synaptics Touchpad V7.0 is enabled. Click settings
Then select what you want from the options. You could try the Default setting at bottom of page.

If this fails cant help no more

Hi , Thanks for your time.
    I,m not having much luck.
First set of instructions allows me to get to drivers, but will not allow roll back, greyed out.if I select update drivers, it doesasearch and reports the drivers are up to date.
Second option,In device Manager, click Mouse, get Synaptics Ps/2P port touchpad, no V70. When I click on touchpad, I get, General, Driver.Details,resources.TABS
In resources, No complaint, others,no options available to me.
There seems to be some difference from mine to yours, or something missing on mine; There is no default option available, whether I click, Mouse /Synaptic.or Device Manager in control Panel, I always end up with Synaptic Touchpad PS/2P Port Touchpad with the 4 tabs, with no options.
Seems like I just going to have to scroll the long way, with up/down keys.
