Hi,
Looking for a bit of inspiration! What songs have you chosen for your wedding? Walking down the aisle, signing the register, first dance etc. Also, if you are having any readings what are you having?

I am walking down the aisle to Goo goo dolls "Iris" (H2B choice), our first dance is simple plan "I can wait forever" , I wanted to walk down the aisle or have our first dance to Staind "so far away" but H2B is not keen on the idea so I will settle for signing the register or leaving the ceremony.
I wasn't sure how many songs we actually need for the day.0 -
Lisajane8482 - The Goo Goo Dolls Iris is mine and H2B son! Though I'm walking down the aisle to Cannon D I have asked our String Quartet to play if for us for our drinks reception as a surprise for H2B!
We haven't decided on our reading yets looking for something for my step son to read out and my Step dad has asked if he can write a peom to read out for us:)Turning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0 -
hi , we looked through so many songs...favourites to ones that fit for the day
But after much looking we both settled on our choices of.. Guests entering> there's a kind of hush by hermans hermits
me & daughter entering registrar office > marry me by train ( h2b doesn't know as I chose it one of my fave songs and the words just say it all
).
signing registrar > L.o.v.e by micheal buble
leaving > love & marriage by frank sinatra
As for readings we weren't going to have any but decided on one in the booklet sent by registry office and we managed to persuade my son to read it for us

            Hello!
We've chosen the following:
Portugese Love Theme from Love Actually for me walking down the aisle with both parents. I'm having the page boy/small BM walk on their own first, followed by my sister (chief BM) and her fiance who is an usher walking hand in hand together, followed by the three of us, all timed so we start walking during the loudest climax of the song (ha! in theory...)
My mum is teeny and my dad is huge so it'll probably look at bit skee-wiff, but there's no way my ma isn't going down there with me too!
Kiss Me by New Found Glory and Closing Time by Semisonic for during the signing of the register (I'm not sure how long it will take, one song's worth or two!)
Hey Soul Sister by Train for walking back down the aisle as hubby and wife! It's very bubbly and upbeat.
Marry Me by Train (again!) for First Dance. Very sadly, until reading on this site, I actually thought this song was an unusual choice, a little hidden gem no-one would kniow about.
All the songs have special meanings to us both, we've even seen NFG live many moons ago and watch Love Actually at least once a year at Xmas.
I'm reading a passage from Captain Correlli's Mandolin, as I did it at school and loved reading it. Already tried and tested on OH, he got a wee bit teary!

A marriage is a promise
That two hearts gladly make.
A promise to be tender,
To help, to give and take
A marriage is a promise
To be kind and undemanding
To be thoughtful and considerate,
Fair and understanding .
A marriage is a promise
To share one life together...
A love-filled promise meant to be
Kept lovingly for ever.

Walking down the aisle I had the Entrance of the Prince of Denmark.
Signing the register we had 'The Lord is my Sheperd'
On the way out we had the tradional Wedding March.
Entrance to wedding breakfast: Forever by Chris Brown
First dance we did a choreographed dance to Al Green - Lets Stay Together.
Readings wise we had 1 Corinthians 13 as our religious one, we had this one as our non religious one:
Marriage is about giving and taking
And forging and forsaking
Kissing and loving and pushing and shoving
Caring and Sharing and screaming and swearing
About being together whatever the weather
About being driven to the end of your tether
About Sweetness and kindness
And wisdom and blindness
It's about being strong when you're feeling quite weak
It's about saying nothing when you're dying to speak
It's about being wrong when you know you are right
It's about giving in, before there's a fight
It's about you two living as cheaply as one
(you can give us a call if you know how that's done!)
Never heeding advice that was always well meant
Never counting the cost until it's all spent
And for you two today it's about to begin
And for all that the two of you had to put in
Some days filled with joy, and some days with sadness
Too late you'll discover that marriage is madness.
I also liked this one so I put it in Husbands wedding card:
Have You Ever
Jody Beck
Have you ever just met a person
Who made your head turn
Have you ever met a person
Who made your heart burn
Have you ever met a person
That let you be you
Have you ever met a person
That made you feel love true Have you ever met a person
Who touched you so deep
Have you ever met a person
Without whom you could not sleep
Have you ever met a person
that brightened your life
Have you ever met a person
That made you want to be a wife
Have you ever met a person
Whose eyes promise you'll never feel blue
I know you have
Because that person is you
My brother had this one that I read at his wedding which is lovely:
The Promise
Eileen Rafter
The sun danced on the snow with a sparkling smile,
As two lovers sat quietly, alone for a while.
Then he turned and said, with a casual air
(Though he blushed from his chin to the tips of his hair),
"I think I might like to get married to you"
"Well then, she said, "Well there's a thought,
But what if we can't promise to be all that we ought,
If I'm late yet again, when we plan to go out.
For I know I can't promise, I'll learn to ignore
Dirty socks and damp towels strewn all over the floor.
So if we can't vow to be all that we should
I'm not sure what to do, though the idea's quite good".
But he gently smiled and tilted his head
Till his lips met her ear and softly he said
"I promise, to weave my dreams into your own,
That wherever you breathe will be my hearts home.
I promise, that whether with rags or with gold I am blessed
Your smile is the jewel I will treasure the best.
Do you think then, my love, we should marry - do you?"
"Yes" she said smiling "I do".

I was at a wedding about 3 weeks ago and during the register signing they had Florence & the Machine's you've got the love-just a singer and a harpist it was lovely, real mellow!! They also had the theme tune from Braveheart which was approriate since the bride was Scottish.
I just love some of those poems - must remember them if the time ever comes for me!!!

Oh, thank you all so much!
I love that poem 'The Promise', what a beautiful, whimiscal one. Thanks for that, I think it will appear on our day!
IT is a civil ceremony and I picture myself coming down the aisle to something really fun. Hmm, not sure what though!! I want it to be such a joyous occasion.
The whole thing is quite hollywood old glamour, so I fancy a very traditional dance for our first - I thought of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqQ-6chkmsA. I think it will be really romantic in the room we have, which will be fairly dark , with a couple of disco balls and lots of fairy lights, tea lights etc. What do you think?
I also think I might play Prince 'Forever in my life' during signing the register.
What do you think??
