Ah, So if i add my wife's name to the current account i.e my name and add her name, this would allow me to transfer money from our joint bank account to the Icesave account even altho the Icesave account is just under her name ?

Does this sound right ?

Yes this would be acceptable as your wife would have been granted permission to the money contained in your current account.

Would this not also allow you to split the income tax liability on the current account equally between yourself and your wife, thus reducing your overall exposure ?

This refers to the initial deposit; you can of course set up a payment from your external account to your wife's ICESAVE (I have done this when moving stooze funds from my egg savings direct to Icesave instead of having to go via my nominated external account)
