San Franciso mobile - white screen

I have an Orange San Franciso android mobile. When i switch it on from standby two white vertical lines appear. Then the screen goes white and flickers between white screen and normal display. If i ignore the flickering and continue using the phone the screen goes back to normal after a while. The phone has not been dropped and no apps has been added. What is causing this?
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems

It is most likely due to the screen or digitizer, if you bought it recently I would return it to Orange or whoever you purchased it from for it to be repaired.0

Exactly the same happened to my OH's Orange SF. Was returned under warranty and they arranged a swapout at our house.0
