Bidder wanting to retract bid

Hello. I'm selling an item on ebay which ends in a couple of days. Someone bid on it yesterday but I got home today to find an email from them saying they want to retract their bid (said they were buying as a gift for a child but someone else has bought it for the child already).
I was just wondering how I do this? Surely the bidder has to retract the bid themselves? Or am I missing something really obvious? Never had a request like this before.
Thanks for any help in advance!

They should retract it.

To save a problem later though, if they don't retract it you can. Better retract a bid while there si still time for other bidders to get in and buy the item.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
