EDF Fix or Risk?

Hi
Need some advice and help to decide what to do this is the situation:
Our elec and gas is with EDF on a online v7 tariff fixed until 31 Dec 2011 (all great and they are good) But they are rising the prices on Nov 10th 16%!! This will not affect me until 31 Dec when I can change a new tariff but they seem to only have the standard one at the moment.

Or I can get out of it by fixing on the standard tariff until Dec 2012 avoiding the price increase but this does mean higher bills until this Dec when there might be a better tariff might be out and the worst could be over??

So what are your thoughts change and fix longer on higher rate or risk it on the short low fix??

Please help as I can not make my mind up and need to do it by the 10th!:)
