Netbook won't load XP

TT is right, we need the make & model to advise further. All netbooks should have a factory restore partition accessed by pressing a certain F-key on boot-up. As they all differ in whick key it is, make & model is essential info

It's an emachines eM350 Intel 1gb ram.

Personally, I've just given that a go but beyond the fact that momentarily I saw the Dell logo, it still went to the same error message.
Any other suggestions gratefully received.
Also, if its the HDD that is done for is it worth replacing and is that likely to be a job I can do myself?:T0 -

The suggestion was for the OP, you have your own thread....but the answer is yes...you can do it yourself.0 -
Before you try to factory restore. Enter BIOS (F2)... see if there's an option SATA mode.
If the SATA mode is set to AHCI change to IDE or if set to IDE change to AHCI.
Save changes and exit0 -
