Should I pay this, I've never heard of the company before?!...But they know my number

Is this a scam? I have read somewhere the debt collection company they send is run by the same company as Telebilling but I have no clue what to do to get them to stop. Someone explain how they got my address and phone number.

    Remove your links.

You've not blocked out enough info. Your telephone number is still in top right corner along with account number, first/last name etc.

  • What needs blocking out? The phone number next to the price is not mine.
  • Have you clicked on any links on anything accidentally in any emails? Have you filled out a form and aswered any odd questions asking for personal details.
If you have then your personal details may have been compromised.
I get one from "BT" stating that my email account will be closed down as I do not use it, but they want all my info!
As BT is my main email and I am normally on a PC 90% of a day, that simply is not true, so it is obviously a scam.
Therefore, I'd delete and ignore it all. Let them take you to court, just keep a paper copy of anything odd in a file just in case. Change any account passwords or user ID's to ensure that your details remain safe. And make sure that email security is set to medium, not low.

It's a scam. Google Telebilling. I would ignore them.

You havent called or texted any numbers that dont belong to someone you know have you? Might have looked like a normal phone number?

From their site, they are a third party billing company that invoice on behalf of special rate numbers. I'm not saying this is the one you've replied to, but i googled the PO box number and found this: http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/02032858191

So if the company/service/number you called was operating on a similar basis (making it look like it was a normal mobile number when in fact its a premium rate number), surely this would be covered under unfair contract terms.

    I wouldnt acknowledge the debt.

Of course you shouldn't pay them or contact them. Even if you did call one of their numbers.

Could you perhaps edit your post so its not quoting the links the OP has since removed?

    EDIT: Thanks :D

OP, legally i dont think they can enforce the payment. I'm presuming they didnt tell you that you would be charged £60 and that you didnt agree to anything. I dont think you have anything to worry about.

  • So I just ignore the Debt Collectors who coincidentally are ran by the same company as TeleBilling!
