EON to EDF - Extreme planning need help

Hi I've been holding off changing from my current supplier EON (Age UK) quarterly scheme to another provider, as I wanted to see who would come out cheapest after the price hikes.

Now it seems like it a level field I've done a price comparison and most seem to suggest a saving via EDF Fix 2012 saving around £149.

I really like EON they have great customer service and are always very helpful and understanding. There seems to be a lot of poor reviews for EDF so I realise it's not just about price but also the help and service you get. I'm on a low income so I need a supplier who is willing to be helpful as I really have to work hard to meet my bills.

I would like to hear from others about their experiences and how helpful EDF are, especially those who have recently moved to them as I gather they have had lots of CS and computer issues which has produced frustration and billing problems.

Have they managed to sort out their poor CS and technical problems? What is your experience now?

Many thanks

I'm afraid you've missed the boat on cheap fixed tariffs by about a month now. Fix 2012 is much more than the earlier Fixed Saver v2.
Many of the EDF issues remain, I have personally had no billing issues, but phone contact is pretty hopeless because you spend so long holding. The online messaging system works eventually, but requires patience for a reply: 10 working days is typical.
Generally I've found that once you do make contact they're OK. But I'd only choose EDF on the basis of cost.

I swapped to EDF in July when EON FOL8 ended. No problems with the changeover via moneysupermarket, even had my cash back:)

My mum is with Eon OLS3 ending this month and I am switching her across to the EDF F2012 tomorrow, if it is still there. Saving about £50 against existing deal and quite a bit more against the next Eon Tariff.

I moved mum from the Age UK tariff 1 year+ ago it was totally uncompetitive against their other tariffs even with the pensioner cold payment refund.

I have no experience of their compassion - sorry - my gut feel if it is a genuine issue, especially for the older customer, that they won't be much different to EoN.
