NCB - Will I lose it if I switch to 3rd party only?

Currently got full NCB.
I understand that if I dont use this for 2 years basically, I'll lose it. Does this have to be COMP insurance or any insurance?
However, am I right in saying that only COMP insurance allows you to build up NCB and not third-party? If I go third-party now will I lose my NCB after 2 years?

NCB is just as valid for third party car insurance as it is for fully comp.0

I agree with Jimmy.
I've had 3rd party before and it made no difference.0
