Incorrect query on JSA Claim - Find out why?

Hi
I was wondering if anyone could advise me regarding a query that was placed on my JSA claim regarding my savings, when the DWP person came round, they explained that Halifax (who I have had savings with in the past) contacted them stating that they (Halifax) had calculated that going on savings I had 'a while back', (basically I think before my JSA claim started) the interest I would be receiving on these accounts would mean I was over the £6000 limit on savings. Now, I wasn't over the limit on the savings during the time in question, nor have I ever been. Given this is patently untrue (which was commented on by the DWP person who visited me), I'm more than slightly annoyed about the stress and worry this has caused me and was wondering whether I could possibly access the information/communication given by Halifax to the DWP using something like the Data Protection Act?
Any help would be gratefully received, thanks

You may be able to do a Subject Access Request which will allow you to receive the information held by the DWP about yourself. Though if you're being investigated I'm not sure if you will be able to have access to the information regarding the investigation until it is complete.
How to do a Subject Access Request

Thanks!, that's really helpful I thought that I maybe wouldn't be able to gain information till a decision is reached and I thought maybe the decision may give me more information, which may shed some light on why the query occurred in the first place. But I will wait till I hear something from DWP and then send that letter, thanks again!0
