Need to cancel a motability car

I have had a motability car for many years. I am now 57 and in really dire financial circumstances (long story) and struggling with debt. If I could give up my car I would save £200+ a month - not sure what it is now, and that would help tremendously. I live in an isolated area so I would not be able to get out at all (I am in a wheelchair and cannot transfer into another car or taxi, just my motability one) but I shop on line and dont get out that much anyway, so would be prepared to do it. If I could give it up for a year it would help me get back on track.
Question:
If I give up car would there be a penalty charge?
If things get better would I be allowed back in the scheme again?

The answer to the second question is that provided you have at least 2 years to go before renewal of your HRM - DLA, you could take out another Motability lease with no problems.0 -
This is incorrect.gemstargirl wrote: »The answer to the second question is that provided you have at least 2 years to go before renewal of your HRM - DLA, you could take out another Motability lease with no problems.
If you choose to lease a car through Motability's Contract Hire scheme you must have at least 12 months' award length remaining.

It's an old thread, but might give you some idea of how they will react.
