Expert Car Help Needed....In Alot Of Trouble
Hi guys,
I think im in alot of hassle and im currently threating what to do and who to see as such...
I had a car in the UK which i bought over to Germany (Where i serve - British Forces)
So being my first car, i never exported it.... As time passed i stopped using it, and totally forgot about it (believe me its possible the amount of times we travel and do so much pointless exercises all over) and now its well over 1.5 years not declared SORN (off road).
I rang DVLA up recently and the women said to me to get it registered over here (BFG) and i might get away with it but just recently the gearbox has gone and now its not worth fixing and it wont pass its BFG application.
So i have a UK car in germany, not exported, not declared SORN and now 'Non - runner' also registered at my old address.
I heard if i got it scrapped and sent all paperwork to DVLA i could get around the fine. I presume im in for a fine as DVLA are strict with this.
How can i sort this? Any advice at all is appreciated, im in such a mess and i really dont want to be forking out big fines.
At the time it was my first car, i didnt know the whole process and was too busy and stupid to do anything.
I just want it off my hands and to be in all clear if possible.
Now i feel extremely stupid and no doubt deserve a fine for doing this.
Advice, critism and comments are welcome.
Thanks

Thing is have they issued you fines at the UK registered address over the past 1.5 years and may have issued court claim
which they would win because you didnt attend.
If not scrap it and tell nobody, Sorted.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

The DVLA don't issue fined, they hand that out to a company to do it. I sorned my vehicle (it is sitting on my drive way) and they fined me because I didn't re-sorn it again 12 months later (actually it is a penalty notice, not a fine). My view is that once you sorn it, then that's it until you inform them that it's back on the road or scrapped, this yearly scheme is just another NuLabour money making scheme.
I just ignored the fine letters, as I had no contract with this third party company, who I suspect that the DVLA sell on the defaulters names to and most people are scared enough to pay up.
They sent a couple of reminders and then gave up. 18 months later, the car is still on the drive without yearly sorns and no one is chasing me. This company has no contract with you and cannot take you to court to pay.0 -

DVLA can not issue fines, they issue penalties which are not fines, they are summary justice and therefore not subject to Law.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

i'd tell them you sent the export part of the form back to them 18 months ago. don't you have to renew the SORN every twelve months?0
