Is there anything stopping your wife looking for a job, even part time.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • No not the daily mail, was our local mid week paper.

    And just an update,

I phoned up the council office and got an estimate over the phone,

I qualify for £15 per week housing benefit. they said i need to just go and do the fourms etc now.

I still cant beleave it tho, i can see why this country is like it is. I proberly wont be taking it tho, dont seem right to me, i work hard and get a good wage, why should i be entitled to his as well.

thanks all for your help tho. :j

On that basis, you have a net weekly income of over £500!

Isn't that enough to live on?
I only ask as it is very unlikely that you would receive any form of means tested benefits.

Is anyone in your family ill or disabled in any way?
That might be a way forward in increasing your income.

What are you on? You make it sound like it's a goldmine to have somebody ill or disabled in your family.

You say above that 'very unlikely that you would receive any form of means tested benefits', yet the OP has already done the entitled to calculation, which shows he may very well be entitled. Sorry - but with all the stupid little games you claim to play at the DWP offices, let's not begrudge a working family man the very small amount he may be entitled to!
Remember, it's his taxes that are contributing to your benefits :)
  • If you're entitled to it claim it! You pay the taxes some people never pay a penny in their life!
£15 a week over a year is £780, that's a weeks holiday (maybe only in England but still).
For a while I was claiming £3 or something a week HB because if you get HB you are entitled to free vet care at the PDSA which can amount to thousands of £££ saved if u have a pet.
