Hi folks, looking for some advice..
I've got £3k to spend on a car for driving in the city (weekday commute), with a 4 hour motorway trip once a month. I don't have a large family (2 peeps + 1 small dog) so don't necessarily need a big car or a big engine.
Narrowed it down to
Toyota Yaris
v
Honda Jazz
Does anyone know what sort of mileage I should be expecting for that kind of money..? Have seen a 2004 Jazz with 65,000 miles for £2,895 whereas I can get a 2004 Yaris with 42,000 for £2990..
Just have no idea what to expect so any advice much appreciated!

I'd have a Jazz over the yaris I think - that bit more flexible inside which it sounds like you'll appreciate. Should be fine for irregular long trips too.
Pretty much any small car will be suitable for you, just look round a few and drive as many as you can. I would look at what Hyundai and Kia have to offer in your pricerange too. Also check out the Suzuki Swift, Fiesta, Fabia and maybe have a look at some Civic/Corrola/Focus sized cars too to see what you prefer.0 -

Honda Jazz every time.0 -
Both are reliable cars IMO provided they have been serviced (inc Cam Belt if required/consideration in cost re higher mileage options) should be fine.
Test drive them see what you prefer.
As PP said I would think the Jazz would be slightly more practical with a dog."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Thanks everyone!

With your money you can get a much much newer car from the Ford/Vauxhall stables.
A 7/8 year old Jazz or a 4 year old Ford ?
In fact, for just £2k you can get a 3 year old Ford Ka http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2011404192937990
