Colours to go with Walnut Furniture?

Hi guys
Its my first post!
I'm starting to get a bit stressed out trying to choose a colour for my walls and carpet. I wanted to go with cream for one colour on the walls another colour/wallpaper as a feature wall and carpet.
Don't want to go too dark in colours as i don't want to draw the room in. Originally i was going to go for chocolate on the feature wall but i really think its 1. not going to go and 2 . make everything look a bit dark.
Is there any suggestions?
Many thanks

Being a relatively dark wood, I'd choose a light colour so that the furniture doesn't get lost against it. A light green or teal/duck-egg blue could be nice. You could always get cream carpet and cream/colour patterned walls. Also nothing wrong with cream walls and cream carpet - we have that in a few rooms.
We have some built-in bookcases in one of our spare bedrooms that are similar to walnut in colour (perhaps a touch darker). I used a green:

If you google image search 'walnut furniture', you can see it in lots of different settings:

Cream is the best "safe" colour to go with walnut.
Other colours to consider are Orange, Green and Purple...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

We have brown wooden furniture in our bedroom and lounge so have gone for a neutral mid brown carpet and chose a lime-green for a feature wall & accesories in the lounge - it's the trailing leaf wallpaper on this link http://www.next.co.uk/shop/category-childrenswallpaper-category-paint-category-wallpaper-colour-green-0
I also like a turqoise blue / green with brown, lilac can be nice or red can look good as long as it doesn't overpower it.0 -
We have walnut furniture in the bedroom and living room (maybe a bit unimaginative!). Just painted the living room in off-white and Dulux "Overtly Olive" which has worked quite nicely- enough colour to add a bit of interest but not too dark.
Bedroom is white with one wall in a Crown Indulgence colour: "Armagnac" which is purple. Nice in the bedroom but a bit over the top for a living room. Depends where you're putting it.
In the old house with the same furniture we had something more neutral in the living room. It was something along the lines of 'soft truffle' which was a mid grey-ish colour with a tiny hint of brown. Bedroom was cream with one wall in scarlet red. We were tempted to do them both again but thought it would be a bit sad to just recreate our old house in the new place!
As walnut is quite a dark and relatively neutral brown I think it's pretty safe- most things go well with it.0
