EON vs EDF

Afternoon everyone,

Looking for advice, currently on E.ON SaveOnline 4 product with a yearly spend of approx £843 for dual.

Done a price check and I can save money if I joined the following EDF product 'Fix for 2012'

I would save approximately £61.22 if I moved. Just checked EON terms and conditions, I will have to pay £30 cancellation fee if I come out of Save Online 4 before 15/01/12.

Is it worth to change for a saving of £30?

Or is it worth holding off until Jan and see how market is? Never been with EDF so not sure what they are like. (I know, they appear all the same now!!!)

Thanks in advance

    Not that I'm biased, but...
I switched to EdF last December, they came out marginally cheaper in comparison to my existing supplier's offering and were giving £100 cashback (on top of £30 cashback thro' comparison site). The switch was delayed (and I can't find out why) but I eventually got final bills from my previous supplier. My electricity account was eventually set up and appears to be operating normally, but EdF have yet to set up the account for my gas supply - which has several repercussions:
My previous supplier had renewed the annual contract, leaving me with a £20 exit charge. This was partly my fault for not telling my supplier that I did not want to renew, but having received a welcome letter from EdF with a switch date, why would I suspect that the switch would not happen?
Because the switch has not yet been completed, I still haven't received the £100 cashback. I suspect they will try and tell me that the offer has now expired!
I have not had a dual fuel discount on my electricity - will this be back dated if/when the gas supply is set up?
      Funnily enough they
have managed to set up the direct debit for £38 a month, so they have helped themselves to over £350 of my hard-earned without generating a bill  (tbh I probably owe them at least £300 for the gas I've had since the switch, but on principle I think there ought to be a bill for it)

I have rung customer services several times and can't get a strright answer or any commitment, so it is now in the hands of the Energy Ombudsman - we'll see how it develops...

And they have the cheek to "remind" me on my electricity statements that they could give me a good deal on my gas!:wall:

I have switched energy supplier several times in the past without incident and I, perhaps naively, assumed that it would always be a smooth process. I think its fair to say I regret this most recent switch and I may end up worse off if EdF do not come good on the cashback and dual fuel discount. "Proceed with caution" would be my advice.

I don't really believe EdF are worse than any of the others, but I've had this bad experience, so have made it a mission to take every opportunity to share this tale of woe (a bit like Burton messing up our wedding suits, but that's another rant)

I switched from EON to EDF fixed in July it was better than any Eon offering and fixed. The transfer went through no problem. DDRs working fine.

My mumsEon Save online ends this month and providing EDF2012 fix is still available later today I will arrange the switch for her. It is currently £50 less than current tariff and about £100 cheaper than next best Eon available going forward.

IMO rates aren't going to come down, at best they will stay flat for now. Mum has an exit fee but the switch will take place after the end of current contract. Depends if the fix will save you more than your exit fee and if you want to have the benefit of a fixed tariff.

Don't forget that fixing your tariff only puts off the future escalation you will have to do to catch up at some point.

If you switch via MSE and Moneysupermarket there is also £30 cash back. Got mine about a month ago.
