router upgrade question

After getting our detached garage converted, i recently upgraded to the virgin media superhub as they informed me that it would give me enough wifi coverage to be able to use the playstation out there. this unfortunatly turned out not to be the case (there was no wireless coverage to the garage).
I have turned off the wireless on the superhub and attached my old D link DIR-615 router which now gives us a weak signal out there. So i need to upgrade, but not being very tech minded i am not sure what i should be looking for.
any help would be much appreciated.
Paddy

Bad thing that superhub doesn't have external antenna socket....
Good thing you can just buy external antenna with some meters of cable and attach that to yours dlink....
This will give you decent signal.
Even if you buy new router it might not pass signal thru the walls. Also maybe its possible to change place of router to more open area.
I have had those routers with internal antennas and most of them are crap.
There is app inSSIDer 2. from metageek on which you can see strength of signal. In such way if you have laptop you can check are your results good and which configuration is best.
Oh and also it might be possible use dlink or superhub as access point.0 -
I dont think that the antennas are detachable on my dlink (i have pulled and twisted as hard as i dare) I do have an ethernet cable running from the house to the office next to the garage is there anything i can do with that, i did try putting the router in the office but then i get no signal in the house and i need a reliable connection in the office.0

Then do like this. Main connection to superhub.
To superhub connect office cable.
In office connect dlink as secondary.
No investment at all and you gonna have internet everywhere.

Have you tried them? I was also interested to buy them, but there is not much reviews about them. Maybe you could share some personal experience?0 -

ive not used the ones in the link but i currently use a set i got from ebuyer a few years ago and not had any problems at all, they still work and for around £40 mark they are worth it.0 -
Thanks again,
have set it up as above and things seem to be working (though cant see how to log into dlink to select channel number) so will probably leave things as they are and hope i dont get any problems0 -
Emm if from pc connected to superhub: Login to superhub, check ip of dlink. Enter ip in browser and you are in.
If pc connected to dlink then as usual with default ip.0
