Cheaper tickets for trains - non student

I'm starting a job in the city on Tuesday and am looking at the cheapest way of getting there. My job is close to a train station, but my house isn't so I would need to drive (sometimes get a lift and walk back) to my station. (Already worked out this is cheaper than driving/parking or driving/park n riding)

Parking at the station and train fares are cheaper if I get weekly/monthly tickets HOWEVER
is there any way of getting anymore off??? Every little counts as I've been out of work for a while!

I haven't been claiming JSA, and I'm just an evening student at the local college, so don't think I'm entitled to any student discount - or am I??

Can anyone advise please??? :)

Thanks S_C

The answer to your question will depend to some extent on which two stations you are commuting between.

An answer is to ask your employer if they run an annual season ticket loan scheme (Annual tickets are cheaper per day than monthly) and assuming you buy your ticket within the confines of the former Network South East area and at least one of the stations also qualifies you will be provided with a gold card. It may be offer some discount on things other than your general commute to make up for the annual ticket.

If you are worried about changing jobs or locations having purchased an annual ticket you can be reassured that any unused portion will be returned.

Thanks for the information. Both stations are in Worcestershire - about 15 miles apart, and I'll only be working there for 6 weeks.

But I'll mention in to my employer as it's literally 3 mins from the station and there is no parking at the office so they may run some ind of public transport scheme.

    Thanks

My train firm (onerailway) offers me 10% if I get into liverpool street after 9am, called flexitime ticket. Works out cheaper getting a monthly then a weekly, as I cannot afford a a annual.
    Kind Regards
