hi all... currently in absolute agony with my lowerback...
I've been feeling strain for months (community carer with lots of different tasks involved) and yesterday stood waiting for my sons teacher at parents evening, he asked me to pick him up, which I did and suddenly I had this weird twinge in my back. Whilst walking to the car, I could feel like a stabbing pain, got in, drove him home and for the rest of the night I found myself limping around and holding my right leg up as I've found that this eases the pain. Hoped that this morning I would be ok, got up and low and behold I'm worse
dropped my son off at school, limped back and sat on the sofa. Tried to get up for the loo and spent ages trying to firstly get up and then secondly walk... So, called my employer, and was told that I would need a self cert form... phoned the doctors and the receptionist said they have them on the desk. Now, I have no idea what self cert with this company will imply as my hours vary between 16 and 30+ soI'm worried that I wont get paid for my being off sick. Wondered what your opinions were for this situation? I'm in agony but thinking going to work is my better option???

Usually you don't get paid for the first 3 days anyway. As someone who suffers from a serious back injury, going to work in the kind of job you do will not be a better option as you will most likely then find yourself off for months.0

Make an appointment at the docs so they can at least give you some pain relief and maybe refer you to a physio.Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0
