Compensation from United Utilities?

Ive had for the past few weeks (and possibly much much longer) about a foot of water under my floorboards in the crawl space. Its clear water and looks like its from the surrounding water table so I checked with my neighbours but none had the same problem which I thought strange.
So I put some dye in my rain gutters so I could try and trace the problem. The dye went from my rain gutters to a man hole on my neightbours property and then from there to the gutters in the road. The level of water in the manhole was right near the top as was the level in the drain in the street suggesting there was something backed up.
I called united utilities and they came out and found a problem a few streets down with a main drain so theve cleared that out and the water level instantly dropped in the drains in the road and under my neighbours manhole and thankfully this has sorted out the problem with the water under my house its practically gone now although maybee it has damaged my drain system on my property?
United Utilities admitted it was there fault and have offered a compensation 'gesture' along the lines of a small bill reduction. Which i would normally be happy with.. However the room that has had the water underneath now has mould on my blinds, a section of the wall and in one place the wall paper has pealed off
Im wondering what I should do next should I request UU pay for this damange - I mentioned it at the time and he suggested they wouldnt. Should I claim on my house insurance? Or just accept it and get the paint out and some new blinds
