hi all
need some help
not finding the entitled to websites useful.
dh works 40 hours, me 23.
2 children both disabled - as am i (genetic disease) so dla x3 mrc, and 2 x disability elements for the children on taxcredits.
we get no wtc, or childcare paid.
my query is: i am needing to reduce my working hours due to my disability, but work say i'll go down to 15 hours if i drop a day - what difference does this make to tax credits if i am working under 16 hours?
does tax credits reduce or increase? confused

If your partner continues to work 40 hours, it probably wouldn't impact too much on your tax credits other than your income would reduce so tax credits might go up slightly .
It would rule out help with childcare costs if you needed it (you both need to be working at least 16 hours).
If his hours then dropped it might cause some issues later, but based on your current situation it should just result in a very small increase if your income is lower.

Hi,
Normally you both need to work 16 hrs each, unless one of you is incapacitated for child care purposes, in which case only one of you need to work at least 16 hrs. So if you're in receipt of DLA then you'll probably still be eligible for help with you child care.0 -
dad1 - thanks for your reply
we get no wtc or childcare paid as we earn too much - it gives the figure for both then 'income disregard'= £0
we only get child tax credit, and the disabled premium. i don't think this will change - just wondered if it would go up or down.
different calculators say different things
