benefit advice for a newbie please?

I am 24 and working 37.5 hours a week
my partner is 19 and in full time education and is not claiming any sort of benefits.
We are struggling money wise on just my income and was wondering if anyone know if we would be entitled to any type of help/benefits?
I cant make sense of the calculator on HRMC, it has partner and young person separate, but what if your partner is also classed as a young person?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to submit a claim for housing benefit/council tax benefit as a couple but that will depend on your income and LHA for your area (assuming you are in private rented) - you will need to be the one to apply
Does your girlfriend receive any funding from her college, may be worth contacting them to see what is available (although this will be taken into account as income or housing benefit)0 -
Your partner is your partner, she isn't classed as a young person for tax credit purposes.whitewillow wrote: »I am 24 and working 37.5 hours a week

If your partner is on a degree level course, his/her student loans and grant will be used to assess means tested benefits. S/he could look at getting a part time job.0
