i'd contact them and tell them you're going to start charging them 8% interest and admin charges for having to chase them. when exactly was it due?

*snort* I like that! They don't give a date - simply say that the company 'tries' to get the settlement to you 'as soon after your last day as possible'....well, it'd be good to have it before Christmas, I guess! :D

but they are in breach of contract as you're entitled to that payment when you're made redundant, i know i was handed my cheque the actual day i left. it's worth giving them a kick first thing tomorrow if it's not in your account by morning

I don't see why they shouldn't be able to give you it on your last day or immediately after either - it's not like they didn't have notice, and it should go through as a special payment. I second LT, kick 'em tomorrow :D

  • Hi Nora, the company I work for pay the redundancy on the employee's last day, (not last day working, but the last day of their notice period), if it was a payment in lieu of notice instead of notice period, then they should have paid your money on last day or next pay day, every company is different and depends on the wording in your letter.

Give them a kick up the a**e with a phone call or in writing won't harm, its your money and you deserve it! Rant over!

Hope your doing ok and keeping knitting, i've just finished a baby shawl and now using up my odds of wool to knit baby hats for maternity ward, my mum's put a request in to me! Even though she can knit!

    Apologies for hijacking your diary!

It's arrived this morning (clearly the threat of having the MSE community wooping their arsicle worked!)...thanks to all for your thoughts and advice.

Now I'm off to just stare at my bank balance for a while...

    Back later.
