We have been offered 1 week free accom in P de Las americas in June with Tenerife Dreams. Little bit scared to take up offer in case it is really hard sell. Is this the firm you went with and was your experience OK?
  • Tenerife Dreams was not the firm and the experience was definately hard sell and not for the faint hearted

    No.

By the time you've paid service charges etc. (which may go up) you could afford accommodation anywhere anyway. Look at what people who have bought new timeshares sell them for - you will only lose money too.

If it wasn't a rip off it wouldn't need such a hard sell.
    Can I help?

Also more likely to be a "holiday club" these days (not regulated like timeshare), so less chance of getting the place/dates you want.

There are many downsides to timeshare, not least the sort of people involved in the business. Tenerife is a den of thieves these days, with organised crime having moved in along with the hordes of illegals from Africa. Many of the conmen who have skipped the UK are selling timeshare, holiday clubs and any other con you can think of.

On a practical note, you gain nothing from having a timeshare. You pay a 'membership' every year, plus a service charge. These are far more than the rental of the property is worth. There are also other hidden costs like booking fees. In addition, you have to travel on set days, so you never get the cheapest flights as everyone else travels on that day too. And as someone else has already stated, the thing is worthless if you ever want to sell it. Timeshares are just huge black holes to pour your money down.

How much was your promo week ?
Was it worth doing the presentation for the cost of a cheap weeks holiday ?
If you could do a promo trip every year or 2, compared to the cost of buying, paying your own flights etc would you ?

I totally agree, I have never heard of anyone being happy after buying a timeshare/holiday club. My advice is DON'T touch it!

It's a total con and a well thought out selling scam.
  • the promo week was 99 pounds including taxi to the resort from the airport,
    BUT not return.

Yes is was worth doing, providing you can cope with the 5 and 1/2 hours of hard sell, including the viewing of various delightful appartments at 3 locations

Did they turn nasty on you at the end when yous aid you weren't interested? I would be worried that they would make life so uncomfortable for you afterwards that you would be forced to leave your accommodation.
  • No problem. Seperate section, so we were not bothered by them, during the rest of our stay
