  • Do a search on here for Tenerife, there's some good 4-5* recommendations - I've been to the Med Palace before, and am going again soon. It's the LC side of PDLA like you want, and is a nice area, with good beaches and restuarants.
  • i did a search for "tenerife" and there was only the odd post , i did see trhe one about med palce .. walked past it before ... the tripadvisor saying it's looking a bit old these days .

When we went to Tenerife we just decided to hire a car at the airport and it was the cheapest we saw the whole time we were there, not sure about getting a "sporty" car but the range was vast and it means you can drop it back at the airport when you leave.

Also if you like something a bit different go and see the pyramids (I did say pyramids) or what's left of them. It's a nice relaxing few hours and off the beaten track.

You'll have a great time, Tenerife is incredible.

We are returning to the Atlantida apartments in Los Christianos this xmas. Behind this complex is Hotel Princess Decia Sol (or soemthing like that). it looks Ok. On the itinery for this xmas is visit to "pArque del Aguillas" (eagle PArk). Nice day out with good views over the coast. Take a boat out to see the resident pods of pilot whales and if lucky see dolphins.

  • Places to see:
Masca is a definite, fantastic mountain village, access is via a very twisty steep road which although much improved from a few years ago is still quite a demanding drive.

The volcano, Teide is worth a visit take the cable car up the mountain (arrive early before the coaches). Drive back down via Villaflor another quiet mountain village which overlooks the southern coast. Or continue along the mountain past the observatories and down towards Cadelaria. Coastal town with large Basilica.

The capital is worth a visit and if you are going in February they have Carnivals in the Capital and Puerto de la Cruz. Been to both and they are definitely worth the effort. Here is the official site link http://www.carnavaltenerife.es/default.php

If you like Parrots try the Loro Park in Puerto de la Cruz. Its not just parrots they have Dolphins, sealions, and a small zoo.

There are loads of pretty good hotels in the area you intend to stay, and that is a good position to walk into both Las Americas and Los Cristianos.

Parents have been to the Arona Gran hotel twice in Los Cristianos and say it's brilliant. It's a 4* and get's good reviews on holidays uncovered etc!

It's so good iv'e decided to go there in August this year!! booked through Thomson's with a £150 discount code and went through quidco for an extra 2%

I walked up the mount tiede, and if you are a keen walker, do it, but don't believe what the guides say about it taking 3 hours, took me and my dad from about 6am until 1ish, and then the resturant up there was rubbish. We completly underestimated it and we hadn't checked if the cable car was even running so we went all the way up not knowing if we'd have to walk all the way back down. Phew. Still, I'm proud I did it, especially when I saw a girl in flip flops and realised the cable car must be working as there was no way she made it up in that style of footwear. :) you need a permit to get right to the top (though not before a certain time in the morning, which was why we set off so early, silly us.) Got quite sunburnt on my first day there from just lounging around the pool, as it didn't seem too sunny so didn't reapply suncream, but it obviously really was. so I'd reapply as often as you can, and wear 30. We just stayed at some cheap place as part of a package. Other things to do, snorkelling in the sea. Not really sure what else, guess we just had a lazy holiday after our mountin trek. Oh we went to some lido, that was ok.
