Floorboards damp under carpet?

Hi all,
Sunday afternoon and I thought I would investigate a Knocking pipe from the living room ceiling.
When I lifted the bedroom carpet up & underlay the floorboards are damp on top. To say they are not completely wet all the way through. There is no leak in the cavity between the ceiling and floorboards.
Also I get a lot of moisture on the windows, after looking at this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=321986&highlight=dehumidifier
I have just bought a dehumidifier. The windows in the house are large 6 by 4 foot, with no trickle vents built in. We air the house every day.
What do you thing is causing the surface damp moisture on the floorboards, just need a bit of reassurance as this is our first own house we bought in Sept 2006 (built in 1980). I think it is condensation and hopefully the dehumidifier will sort it out.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this thread

PS the knocking pipe is the microbore pipe tapping on the ceiling, is it ok to secure this pipe by using cable cilps?

Hi
It's not that clear whether the damp patch is near the pipe for the rad or not, but it's my guess that the rad valve or the pipe has a weep on it and is wicking into the carpet . It might also explain why the board creaks as it has expanded with the moisture and tightened onto the pipe.
Have a feel around the pipe and valve when they are cold and see.
We had bad condensation on our windows which ran down onto the carpet. Bought a dehumidifier, well worth it!
Good luck..

Hi Tim
Just a quick note i would advise getting the right size pipe clips for the microbore 8 10 12 as you may damage the pipework with the wrong size
