I don't know if it varies between councils, but my great-uncle was a council tenant in Lincoln for over 50 years and had to provide his own cooker. In fact, he kept the same one for most of that period, which I'm sure was a fire hazard by the end...

Have you tried the council website?
  • you usually have to provide your own, I am in a housing association house and I have to provide my own, https://www.kitchenscience.co.uk this is where I got mine from.

Pls be nice to all MSer's

Not only do you have to porvide your own cooker, but a lot of LA's also state that you must arrange the fitting yourself.

The HA I work for, and my LA both do state this.
  • Cooker not usually included however a quick call to housing section of LA will confirm yeah or ney. If money is an issue, a lot of council's can out you in touch with the local recycling schemes who often remove bulk household items when people renew/update. Where viable, items are repaired and sold cheaply as reconditioned.
    Integrity is a dying art!:p
