Aqua card- Halifax

Hi guys, this is just a quick question about the Aqua credit card. Due to being careless when I was younger with credit I was being turned down by everybody when applying for a new credit card. There are no defaults or ccj's on my credit file but it has 4, 5 missed payments on their which are about 2 years old. I applied for an aqua card least September and was accepted for an £750 credit limit. For the last 14 months I have used the account perfectly along with other credit products in the hope it would improve my credit rating. This seems to have done the job were with an existing RBS credit card I was offered 0% for 6 months. I also applied for a capital one classic 4 months ago and was accepted with an £1000 limit. After paying the balance off in full for 4 months this has been increased to £1600.
I today phoned aqua to report my credit card lost. After cancelling the card I ask the women is it true that Halifax issue the card to which she replies yes. A few people have said Halifax staff in store have no knowledge on issuing this card or even have heard of it. I then ask as I have kept the card in perfect order would it possible to get a better Halifax credit card with a lower interest rate. At first she starts telling me about Halifax current accounts and the benefits and how I should switch. After I tell her I am happy with NatWest she suddenly says on the system it says I am eligible for a Halifax Clarity card. At this point I am slightly suspicious thinking why she not told me when I asked. She then puts me through to a colleague were I can make an application. Unfortunately at this point my phone battery goes dead.
Should I ring back and make an application? If you are eligible does that mean you will be certain of acceptance? I know I was accepted by Capital One 4 months ago but I still find I am getting turned down by main stream lenders. I just don't want to ring were another credit search takes place and another rejection on my credit file.

Halifax don't really issue them, they just have the same underwriters. If you called Halifax credit card sales/service about Aqua they wouldn't be able to help.
Do you have any existing accounts at all with Halifax? If not, she wouldn't be able to see whether you're eligble or not as they wouldn't have any info on you. If you do, just because they say you're eligible to apply, doesn't mean you'll be accepted. They no longer offer 'guaranteed offers', unless its through your online banking. Otherwise they will always do a credit check and its up to you if you want to take that risk.
Why do you need another credit card though if you already have a couple?''Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounded by a$$holes.'' :whistle:0 -
Bank of Scotland issue the card and have a small section of a call centre set aside for servicing. SAV are the company that underwrite applications and presumably (my guess) fund the operation.HoneyAndLemon wrote: »Halifax don't really issue them, they just have the same underwriters.
Correct. The card is not branded Halifax or Bank of Scotland and staff in their branches wouldn't be expected to know anything about Aqua.If you called Halifax credit card sales/service about Aqua they wouldn't be able to help.0 -
It is HBOS who issue the cards and run the systems / account admin / customer services / etc for the card - it is in essence a Halifax card in all ways bar one -
SAV Credit underwrite / Fund the credit Aqua offer, not HBOS. But opinions4u already pointed this out
Given this, I wouldn't deem it unreasonable to believe the employee as they can see your account conduct and CAIS feed ergo be able to generate offers based on this like the Clarity card.
I would suggest it could be worth calling back, worst case scenario you're turned down and can try again in six months :beer:Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

If I read correctly you will want to balance transfer, but they will not accept this as they are the same as someone already suggested, I tried this before! :-(0
