  • Sounds a scam.. Clear all your cookies and cache then download http://www.techspot.com/downloadget.php?id=4716&file=1&evp=0a59f9584bb65ce60f8292a3fc06e555 then install it then UPDATE it then run a full scan - not quick.

then post the report in the techie forum - you may have something on your pc or it may just be a phishing email but dont take any chances

  • Log in via the paypal site, NOT any of the links sent in emails.

The phone number given is 08707 307 191 but might be worth looking around for a cheaper number.

Did you log in via a link from the email? Does the email address you by your full name?

Its not neccessarily a scam. Log into Paypal directly by entering https://www.paypal.co.uk into your browser. If the message still asking for your details is there then its genuine. Paypal usually require you to have a backup funding source - if you don't agree to give it then you won't be able to use Paypal.

Did the email say Dear PayPal User or Dear Tcs? That's always a giveaway.

Its definitely a scam. Never log into a site through a link in an email.

Its not definitely a scam at all !! Read my previous post - Paypal do send out emails of this type and its very easy to determine if its real or not by logging into the Paypal account.

But don't paypal ask you to log in to your paypal account without giving you the link?

They won't link straight into a page that asks for your bank details, pin, inside leg measurement, etc. :)

  • I have been sent two emails exactly like this. I did not click the link, I went straight to https://www.paypal.co.uk and then emailed them to query the email (both times). Both times i was told it was a phish attempt and to send the mail to them.

Its been said on here already. If you get a mail like this DON'T click on the link. Log into paypal independently, send an email, check your account hasn't been restricted if you can and wait for a reply. They will usually reply with 24 hours if not 12 in my experience.

If the link to log in was in the email then it is 100% a scam.

You need to do a deep clean on your PC (ask on the techie board) and change all your passwords connected with paypal.
