Ask guests what you like too
Ie fish n chip & mushy peas/curry possible add sausage/fishcake/burgers, bread and butter (tea/coffee if its a cafe) Desert fried mars bar
I am sure you can get a fish n chip shop do extras to order if its large enough order.
Think its a great idea if you can get some where, where you can eat them. Some chippy have cafes I have an excellent one in my town would use it myself
I hate wasting hard earned money, it should be a special day but I think it should be the wedding at church thats special not after, no point getting huge expense, so people spend far too much and for one day0 -
We did something similar - our wedding breakfast was takeaway pizza. Can't remember exact numbers, but I believe it was for over 100.
It was different, certainly, but went down very well. We were doing things on the cheap but wanted a sit-down meal. Was the first time my nan had had take-away pizza and she loved it!
The problem with letting people decide what they want is one of logistics. In our case we had three different pizzas (one of which was just cheese and tomato so suited vegetarians, etc) for each table of 8 people. They could then fight over them as they wanted.
Not so easy with fish and chips, though, as you can't easily share like you can with pizza.
If you were doing a traditional sit down meal people wouldn't get a choice, so you don't have to offer a choice just because you're doing something different.
Obviously you have to cater for vegetarians. I guess you could ask people to let you know in advance if they wanted a veggie burger rather than fish. Chances are you won't then get many people not having fish and you can deal with them separately.
Certainly need to speak to the manager well in advance. With all of these things I'd call it a "family party" rather than a "wedding" in terms of negotiating a price!
Then you just need to arrange a couple of guests to dish them out to each table.0 -
I worked in a chip shop for 8 years and we had one wedding order lol unusual but fun i guess. they ordered the food and then it was delivered to them,we didnt deliver as a rule but made an exception0

This is what we are having!
We are giving everyone the option of -- Battered Cod
- Grilled Salmon (the fish and chip shop that we are buying from also do grilled and pan fried, so we have chosen this incase someone doesnt want such a fatty lunch)
- Battered sausage
- Veggie burger
- Battered cod
- Battered sausage
I am asking everyone to let me know what they want with the invites, that way I can tell the fish and chip shop exactly how many of what i need, rather than buying a random amount and making people share and then ending up with some guests not having what they want. Then the 2 girls that are helping set things up and my bridesmaids & ushers will put the food in everyones places and then we can eat!
We chose it as its cheap and in keeping with the theme of our day (plus we both love fish and chips!)
Im hungry now!

Thank you everyone! :j
hubby to be laughed and said he would think about it. He's not bothered really and will leave it up to me.
I think it will be fun and it will save us a lot of money!0 -
Well like I said we did things on cheap in them days people made do with what you got, no latest iphone, gadgets, had to have 2nd hand furniture. But I dont regret making sacrifices most of us have limited budget why be frivolous with money on just one day. In a few years time all being well I have house paid off and no more debts, I would owe much more if I had saved every penny for deposit for house
I think this idea is great its not being tight I feel careful yes. You can still have a great day and spend less.
I have had 22 years of marriage almost, and hey I aint easy to put up with
she needs a medal
Plus I got married in a beautiful old church one I lived near as a kid and have such fond memories 0 -
I think it is a fab idea, I would be doing it on my big day if we hadn't gotten such an amazing deal with a local hotel.
My family have a chip shop and I worked there for years. Twice a year we did a delivery for party of 100. They called a couple of weeks before and told us exact numbers and what they wanted. We delivered it all and normally helped set it out. We normally offered a discount although that was my dads job so now sure what percentage was taken off but definately ask them!
Have a wonderful day and enjoy your dinner!!0 -
Hi, we had fish and chips for our wedding breakfast and it went down great!! everyone was excited about it.
I am not sure if you have a fish 'n' chicken near you - but that is who we used.
They have a seperate party menu, and have a certain list of foods they can provide (this is the list we gave out guests to pick from)
They were fantastic - brought the food in it was in hot packs, with knife fork and a wipe, was still really hot and fresh, they cleared rubbish away and handed it out to all guests.
What i did was a sepearte table plan and wrote who was having what for each place sitting and no one got mixed up at all!
We then got sachets of sauces/vinegar/salt etc and had them on a plate for each table.
We were going to get bread rolls, and to be honest i cant remember what happened to stopping that but we didnt in the end!
Our wedding was 6 months ago, and people are still commenting on how amazing the food was and how lovely it was to go to a wedding and look forward to food and everyone - children included enjoying it.

though looking at the website i not sure whether they are all over or where you are based, but hopefully can find someone to cater for you!
Hope you can find somewhere to do you a good deal!!
