Absolutely gutted, we need to cancel our honeymoon

Hope he is better soon and that you have decent insurance and get your money back.

We had to cancel our honeymoon the night before we were meant to go due to the icelandic volcano ash cloud. We ended up just getting in the car and pottering round a couple of b&bs and then a kind friend of a friend lent us a cottage for a few days (we didn't yet know if we were going to get any money back so couldn't spend much). Other than eating out a bit more ("well, we are on honeymoon"!) and being in b&b's not the tent it was roughly the same kind of holiday we always have (ever ended up bringing the dog with us!)

18 months later we still haven't been on our 'proper' honeymoon (although eventually got most money back), but I enjoyed our wedding day so much and have enjoyed being married that it didn't spoil anything. I'm sure we would have had an amazing time - but we will go on our planned 'honeymoon' one day & will enjoy it then! I suppose I am just trying to reassure you that although it is a dissapointment now don't let it take the shine off your wedding day.
