DWP recovery of Jobseeker payment from estate

    Firstly, get the bank statements for the last 6 years - this should be gettable I think through a subject access request under the data protection act, in the name of the estate.

    Secondly, contact the DWP, and ask what evidence they have that he was ineligible for benefit during this period.

    3K/year is not an unreasonable amount of savings to make, on even a modest income.

    The father could also have been working and claiming; if the OP has had no contact with his father, I can't see how he could know this wasn't the case.
