Restricted Hours Tariff

I have an all electric house, my heating provided by storage heaters.
I am on a Restricted Hours tariff with Eon which is similar to Economy 7 but with an additional two hour period of cheaper electricity in the afternoon. Eon's charges seem to be amongst the highest, and I would like to switch to a cheaper supplier. However, none of the major suppliers provide a supply of this kind. Does anyone know of an alternative supplier?
I would certainly consider switching to Economy 7 if it would work out cheaper but how would I go about this?

If you switch to E7 you will lose the 2 hour top up in the afternoon at off peak rates. If your storage heating runs out of heat on a very cold day without that top up you will be paying peak rates for heating. It can be more expensive.

What are the rates that you pay at the moment and how many units do you use on each rate?

    Hi jinjamiki,

Hope I can shed a bit of light on your RHT tariff and meter.

This set up is normally two one rate meters, one of then records the normal usage and the second records to off peak usage for storage and water heating.

We do only have one tariff to bill customers with this sort of metering set up on.

If you were thinking of changing to an economy 7 meter, then we would always recommend speaking to an independent electrician first as the wiring of your system would be affected.

There is also a charge to cover the cost of the meter exchange appointment.

    Hope this helps a little.

    Helena :)
