Contribution based JSA

Hi, I am being made redundant on 1 Nov 11 and believe I will be entitled to claim JSA for up to 6 months. I will not be eligible for income based or any other benefits. I have already found another job and will be starting this on 14 Nov, I presume I will be able to claim for the time in between jobs?
Next year we will be relocating approx 200 miles away - my wife is our main earner, it is her choice and she will be voluntarily finding a new job in the new area, arguably in pursuit of furthering her career(she is a Teacher). At this point I will have to resign my new job as it is not commutable/transferrable - I do not anticipate finding work in the new area in the short term. At this point will I be able to submit a new claim? and if so will the 6 months start again or would it be 6 months less 2 weeks?

Thanks

Thanks. I have paid NI contributions for 23 years. There will be a gap in NI payments from 1-14 November when I will be between jobs. Basically I would like to claim for this period provided it does not affect my ability to claim the balance of the 6 months when we move and I have to give up the new job (obviously assuming I don't find new work).

Regarding relocating - we are also doing this to be near family, but I doubt that would be acceptable for a JSA claim. We currently pay two thirds of my net salary in childcare costs (so I currently work 50 hours a week and take home £600 a month) so the loss of the wage is no big deal for a year or two and is more than made up for by my redundancy settlement and the capital we will free up by a South-North house move.
