Treating an oak veneered table
tenacious
We have a beautiful oak veneered/solid oak dining table we bought last year from BHS Home. The legs are solid and the top veneered. We have hardly used it but will be moving home soon when it will be used a lot more. The veneer marks really easily with rings from glasses etc and despite putting coasters out etc for dinner parties, there is always one!
It feels unfinished to me, quite rough to the touch. Does anybody know what is best to finish this with? Danish oil/matt varnish? I dont want to change the colour of it (natural oak) but would like it to be a bit harder wearing. There are also 2 extension leaves with it that are solid oak, if we finish these the same will they all take on a similar colour?
Thanks!

Can anyone help with this one?0

Danish oil clear and super fine wire wool. Test it on the underside of the top to ensure the result is as required.0

Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)0

and super fine wire wool.
NO !!!!
You will get black staining from the tannin in the oak reacting with the wire wool - unless you can get hold of non-ferrous wire wool - not easy.
