Saved nearly £300.00 with Eon!

Hi, this is my first posting, but just thought I would share my experience. I tried a couple of the energy switching links from this site, and the average save on dual fuel with monthly direct debit was £160 - £180 per annum, which was not worth the switch for me form my current Eon Energy Plan Dual fuel as I could also use and earn tesco clubcard vouchers. so I phoned Eon, and the helpful lady on the phone, after a lot of digging around, found me a tariff (Eon Fixonline 9), which would save me nearly £300.00 on my bill, and still be linked in with tesco clubcard vouchers. The only change is that I would have to manage my account exclusively online, which I pretty much do anyway. Also, as my account was in credit following my up to date meter readings, I was able to get £150.00 of my money back into my own account, to pay for upcoming xmas expenses! All in all, a productive morning! :j

Be wary that as there is no credit left on your account to help pay for increased heating costs over winter, a debt may build up which could result in Eon raising your direct debit in a few months.0

£300 seems rather high side, either you are on a very poor tariff before or you fallen into the usually trap pay less dd payments for a while and then get hit by whopping bill and they put your dd payments up as cifpower said0

Hi Crazy Popcorn,
It sounds like you may have been given a bit of incorrect info here, the FixOnline 9 tariff is no longer available for customers to change on to, this, I'm afraid has now ended.
Also ,the Tesco points and vouchers are different things, the vouchers can be used to make a payment against a bill regardless of the tariff. Whereas the points are earned through the payments that you make.
Depending on your previous tariff, there may well be savings to be had on out other available products.
If you could send me your details to the email address in my profile page I can see what has happened.
Thanks

I switched from BG a couple of months ago to a capped tariff (as was being advised at the time) with EON. Just got my first bill in from EON and my electricity bill has increased by > 40%!!! Using price comparison site I am advised that if I had stayed with BG I would be £90 per year better off and with another supplier I would save £237. Consumers just can't win. Take note, David Cameron.0

Hi nisha,
How much are you earning on the Tesco clubcard? Is it £180?
Looks like Eon have missold you a tariff which no longer exists. You should make a formal complaint and re-evaluate your options.
What tariff were you previously on? Use a comparison site with KWh consumption levels to decide the best offer.
Don't use your existing Supplier for advice, as you can see for obvious reasons. In any event beware Eon's direct Debit policy which requires you to have a 'spring zero balance' on your account. It can result in very high DD's.0
