Antic restaurant buffet £10 a pop and the food is very very good, caviar, meat grilled, unlimited desert. very classy place and price includes unlimited soft drinks (propoer coke in glass bottles). turn left outside Bettany Ter station, walk up to the bridge and its just set back. totally worthwhile!

Forgot to mention - definately check out the statue park, just outside town. It's a collection of old soviet era statues, really interesting and some great photo ops. You can get tickets (which include the minibus trip there and back) from the booth at Deak ter, and they're about 2HF (you get a discount with a Budapest card).
    2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j

The biggest tip I can give you is don't take a taxi from the airport. Use the bus from outside the airport, then it drops you off at the end of the metro line. You will save a fortune using public transport to get into the City rather than using a taxi.

We ate in the Belcanto restaurant on our first night on the recommendation of other MSEers. Yes, it is expensive but the food was to die for, and you are entertained all night by a string quartet and singing waiters. A whole nights entertainment.

I would also recommend this restaurant, spent new years eve there a few years ago, it was amazing.

Also visit the indoor market it is fascinating.

In general avoid eating on Vaci Utca as it tends to be a bit of a tourist trap. That said you shouldn't avoid the place as it is a lovely part of the city. Just watch out for Mario after dark!

This is what I meant. :o There was even a sign up in our hostel warning us, which we didn't see till afterwards.

This is part of the hammer and sickle tour that I mentioned. There was a discount leaflet for it in our hostel. There is also a discount for students.

Hope you enjoy your trip. :D
